Hi, I’m Kevin, but here I go by my trail name: Hungry Cat. Unfettered Footsteps is about my quest to live a more adventurous, full life, free from the bondage of consumerism and workaholic culture. While my journey didn’t completely begin with hiking, my first big step was to leave my corporate job in 2018 at the age of 40 and thru-hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine – all 2,190 miles! Since then I have done a LOT of hiking and traveling and made a lot of positive changes in my life.

I created Unfettered Footsteps to help inspire, motivate, amuse, encourage, and empathize with others who are on, or considering, similar journeys to live more unfettered, balanced lives. You might enjoy this site and my writings if:

This site is part blog, part knowledge sharing, and some random musings along the way. Its origin was a daily trail journal that I kept while I was thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. It’s a good place to start reading if you are new to the site. I also have a YouTube channel where I like to document some of my hiking and travels via vlogs and video experiences.

I’m excited that your trail led you here and I hope that Unfettered Footsteps somehow helps you along in your own journey, whatever that may be and wherever it may take you.
